Faranak Farid released on bail after 42 days of detention

After enduring 43 days behind bars, Faranak Farid was released on bail of 1 million tomans. Azerbaijani poet, translator and women’s rights activist Faranak Farid was arrested on September 3rd in Tabriz as demonstrations were happening over the dying of Lake Orumiyeh .
According to family, during the arrest Faranak Farid was violently beaten up by security agents, resulting in severe injuries to her ear and elbow .
Faranak Farid is a member of the One Million Signatures Campaign. She is a women’s rights activist in Azerbaijan, writer of several books, translator, and editor of the women’s section of the banned monthly Dilmaj .
